The Odessa R-VII School District offers the following methods to access information regarding school closings or cancellations.

1.  Information will be sent via IC Messenger (only parents, students, and staff members can receive info from IC Messenger).

2. The following radio stations may be accessed for school closing information:

• KMZU 100.7Carrollton
• KMMO  102.9 Marshall

3. Kansas City area TV stations: WDAF-Fox 4, CBS-KCTV 5, ABC-KMBC 9, and NBC-KSHB 41. Since contacting television broadcasters can be delayed by busy phone lines, their announcements  may be broadcast after the announcement has already been made from the School District.

4. The Odessa R-VII website, Facebook page and Twitter page will post closings and cancellations as information becomes available.

Late Start:
A late start means that everything is simply pushed back TWO HOURS later than normal. The only exceptions to the 2 hour delay are SOAR which will open at 7:00 and the Childcare Center, which will open at 8:00. Breakfast will not be served on late start days, except to the students at SOAR. More detailed information about class schedules at OHS & OMS will be communicated to those students upon their arrival. As an example, if your child rides a bus and is picked up at 6:45, they will be picked up at 8:45 on a late start day... If the building doors usually open at 7:30, they will open at 9:30... If the start time is usually 7:50, it will be 9:50 on a late start day… and so on. The two hour late start only impacts the morning routine, school will dismiss at the regular dismissal time.
