Freshman Timeline

Your freshman year is the time to start laying the foundation for your high school career.  This is also the time to start exploring your career interests.  Here are a few things to help you get started in the right direction:

  • Make the grades: Your GPA is figured using all the grades you have earned during your high school career.  Making sure you start out strong academically is very important so you don't get behind.  If you feel like you need extra help let us know early so we can provide options.
  • Get involved: Become an active member of sports, clubs, and organizations (both in-school and out-of-school).  These activities are a great way for you to get connected with your peers and research your interests.
  • Start a portfolio: Keep a folder with your grade cards, list of sports, clubs, and organizations (include any positions/offices you held and activities/projects you participated in), and any volunteer work you have done in the community.
  • Interest Inventory: During BEST you will take the Self Directed Search that will help align your interests with potential careers.
