OHS Will Continue Hybrid Learning

Dear Students and Guardians:

As Odessa High School has been in the Hybrid Learning Platform over the past month we have seen a positive impact on the sustainment of teaching and learning in our school.  Hybrid has allowed us to significantly decrease our number of self isolations, while providing continuous learning opportunities for our students.  This letter is to inform our patrons that OHS has made the decision to continue with the hybrid model (two days in seat/three days distance learning weekly) through the end of the third quarter (March 18, 2021).  This decision will be revisited as we near the end of the quarter to assess the landscape for the remainder of the school year.  The OHS hybrid model will continue with the current Red/Black day student groupings, however there are some notable changes that we want to communicate.  The hybrid model only affects in-seat students, not students who chose to be educated in a full virtual platform.  

Please see the attached OHS Hybrid Calendar with specific dates of Red/Black student groups.  The most notable change is we are moving our All virtual day from Wednesday’s as it has been over the past month, to Monday’s.  This change will only affect the Red in-seat population on typical weeks, as their in-seat educational days will now be Tuesday and Wednesday.  Black day student groupings’ in-seat educational days remain the same, Thursday and Friday weekly.  This decision was made to better align instructional practices for both groups.   

The second feature we will implement weekly is open in-person access to tutoring/teacher assistance on Monday virtual ed. days from 12-00-3:00 PM.  Students may access teachers for in-person academic assistance during these hours, in addition to virtual office hours.  Please have your student communicate with teachers, specific questions dealing with these access time frames.       

The Hybrid Learning schedule is included on the following pages and will continue when we return from Winter Break on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.  As stated above the Hybrid Learning model will be in place through the end of the third quarter.  The goal is to bring all students back to in-seat learning for the fourth quarter, however, we will continue to reassess the situation leading up to that time.
