Odessa R-VII School District Child Care Center
Odessa R-VII School District Child Care Center
The Odessa R-VII School District Child Care Center offers care for children 6 weeks old through Kindergarten entry. The center is open to Odessa R-VII District Employees, students, and the community.
The Child Care Center is housed on McQuerry's campus located between McQuerry and Odessa Middle School. The center is divided into five classrooms based on age and developmental levels of the children. The five classrooms include an Infant Room, Young Toddler, Toddler/ Young Three Year Old, Young Preschool, and Preschool classroom.
Our infant room offers low teacher-to-child ratio; which allows for an abundance of individualized attention and personalized care. The staff members work with the families to learn the schedules and routines of each child. As developmentally appropriate, staff begin introducing basic sign language to encourage the development of language skills.
Young Toddler Room (1 year olds)
Our one-year old classroom prepares basic lesson plans to meet the developmental levels of each child, with many music and movement activities, art experiences, sensory play, and outdoor time. Staff and children use Sign Language to help the children express their needs before they become verbal and encourage the development of language skills.
Toddler/ Young Three Year Old Room (2/3 year olds)
Our Toddler classroom offers a preschool learning environment arranged with learning centers including areas such as, dramatic play, blocks and transportation, library center, science, math, art, and sensory. Lesson plans are prepared using the Creative Curriculum model, which has a primary focus on hands on learning. This classroom offers a wide array of teacher and child directed learning activities, center play, exploring, and individualized activities.
Young Preschool Room (3/4 year olds)
Our young preschool classroom offers a preschool learning environment arranged with learning centers including areas such as, dramatic play, blocks and transportation, library center, science, math, writing, art, and sensory. Lessons plans are prepared using the Creative Curriculum model and themed based learning. Science experiments to help the children develop a deeper understanding of the world around them and writing activities are a primary focus.
